Hotel of the week
Here’s a hotel “at the top of its game,” said Kimberley Lovato in Virtuoso Life magazine. Built in the 1860s amid 840 forested acres on the banks of the River Maigue, this gorgeous neo-Gothic castle reopened last fall after a major renovation. A new ballroom with a gold-leaf ceiling overlooks the river. The golf course has been redesigned, and a new wing built with local limestone raises the room count to 104. Another new building, the Carriage House, features a bar and restaurant that serves salt-crusted sea bass, dry-aged beef, and other Irish classics.
