The Week contest
This week’s question: A New York designer has built a wooden stool from scratch without tools, by felling a tree with his bare hands and then whittling the wood into shape with his teeth and bloody fingernails. Please come up with the name of a furniture store that stocks only the designer’s truly handmade creations.
Last week’s contest: French butchers have asked the government for protection against militant vegans, whom they accuse of trying to kill off the country’s meat-eating culture by vandalizing butchers’ shops with anti-carnivore graffiti and stickers. If Hollywood were to make a movie about the escalating conflict between butchers and vegans, what title could it give the film?
THE WINNER: “Apocalypse Cow”
Roman T. Ciapalo, Dubuque, Iowa
SECOND PLACE: “Gangs of No Pork”
Talia Rauch, Teaneck, N.J.
THIRD PLACE: “The Kale-ing Fields”
Annette Entin, North Caldwell, N.J.
